File recovery

This is the final phase of the recovery process. Partition and file recovery functions allow recovering badly damaged file systems (FAT, NTFS, EXT2/3, etc). Full list of good and damaged files is created at the end.

File Recovery Engine can extract files from badly damaged hard drives, even if all partitions are lost. This is done by scanning the entire hard drive in search of structures that look like a file system structure (like MFT) and recovering the original file and folder structures. File type signatures are also used in the recovery process.

File Recovery Engine also recovers files from damaged flash cards and optical media. Because the contents of such media almost never gets fragmented, scanning for known file type signatures works best in this case.
