{"id":5463,"date":"2021-04-23T15:44:22","date_gmt":"2021-04-23T13:44:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.atola.com\/?p=5463"},"modified":"2022-12-19T17:10:54","modified_gmt":"2022-12-19T15:10:54","slug":"aff4-support-in-atola-taskforce-2021-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/atola.com\/blog\/aff4-support-in-atola-taskforce-2021-4\/","title":{"rendered":"AFF4 support in Atola TaskForce 2021.4"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p>Atola is pleased to announce the support of AFF4 files in Atola TaskForce, which makes it the second hardware imager able to create AFF4 files after <a href=\"https:\/\/atola.com\/blog\/aff4-imager\/\">Atola Insight Forensic<\/a>!<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Imaging to AFF4<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>AFF4 is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www2.aff4.org\/\">highly optimized open-source forensic file format<\/a> with a wide range of benefits:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Open-source format: you can describe it in a court<\/li>\r\n<li>Supports multi-pass imaging<\/li>\r\n<li>Fast compression methods: Snappy and LZ4<\/li>\r\n<li>Block hashes<\/li>\r\n<li>Stores binary zeroes as spans similar to sparse files<\/li>\r\n<li>Vendor-neutral<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized atola-shadow\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/atola.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/aff4-settings2.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5483\" width=\"597\" height=\"725\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>AFF4&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/evimetry.com\/documentation\/hashing\/\">block hashes<\/a> are calculated for small segments of data on the drive and are stored in a table inside AFF4 metadata and there is a <em>Block map hash<\/em> that represents a single SHA-512 hash value for all the individual block hashes based on Merkle tree model.
