Furthermore, it is able to sustain multiple high-speed imaging sessions on its 18 ports. This makes it a perfect imager to perform <a href=\"https:\/\/atola.com\/blog\/atola-taskforce-2020-7-forensic-raid-rebuild\/\">reassembly of RAID<\/a> with an unknown configuration and fast forensic imaging of such arrays.\u00a0Here is how imaging RAID 0 array becomes an effortless job!<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Assembling a RAID 0<\/strong> array<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>To assemble RAID 0, follow these steps:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ol>\r\n<li>Connect the drives that make up a RAID array to the TaskForce hardware unit. Most importantly, make sure to switch the ports to the Source mode;<\/li>\r\n<li>Click the<em> RAID <\/em>button in the left-side taskbar<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large atola-shadow\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"2837\" height=\"1711\" src=\"https:\/\/atola.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/1-raid1.jpg\" alt=\"Click the RAID button for imaging RAID 0 array\" class=\"wp-image-4683\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>3. Select the drives in <em>Select source device <\/em>panel and click <em>Continue<\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large atola-shadow\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"2837\" height=\"1698\" src=\"https:\/\/atola.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/2-raid0-selecting.jpg\" alt=\"select RAID members\" class=\"wp-image-4685\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Autodetection of RAID configuration<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Let&#8217;s look at the RAID page in TaskForce interface. At the top of the page, there are key parameters of a RAID configuration:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>RAID type<\/li>\r\n<li>Start LBA<\/li>\r\n<li>Block size<\/li>\r\n<li>Block order (RAID 5 only)<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>TaskForce smartly uses defaults for these fields specific to the number of drives, found MBR and partition boot sectors. However, you can enter values manually if the RAID configuration is known. Alternatively, simply apply the results produced by the Autodetection module displayed in the right-hand part of the page.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Immediately upon the RAID page is loaded, the Autodetection module starts running. In Stage 1, TaskForce is linearly reading data on the drives to identify the RAID type.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><em><strong>NB <\/strong> You can add or remove drives if needed. Also, you can change the order of the drives in RAID configuration. Simply grab the drive and drag it to change its position or to remove it from the current array by dragging it to the bin. <\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large atola-shadow\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"2837\" height=\"2159\" src=\"https:\/\/atola.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/4-raid0-stage1.jpg\" alt=\"RAID interface explained\" class=\"wp-image-4686\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>In Stage 2, TaskForce goes through thousands of possible variants of RAID parameters (Block size, order, and Start LBA).\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>4. Click <em>Apply <\/em>as soon as <em>Possible configuration<\/em> tile appears. However, you don&#8217;t have to wait for Stage 2 to be completed:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large atola-shadow\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"2837\" height=\"2159\" src=\"https:\/\/atola.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/5-raid0-possible-config.jpg\" alt=\"click Apply\" class=\"wp-image-4692\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>After you click <em>Apply, <\/em>TaskForce automatically applies the suggested configuration and checks for partitions. In addition, at the bottom of the screen, a preview of the partitions is available.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Imaging the RAID<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>6. After RAID is assembled, you can proceed with imaging RAID 0 array by clicking <em>Go to Image<\/em> button:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large atola-shadow\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"2837\" height=\"2159\" src=\"https:\/\/atola.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/6-atolataskforce-raid0-imaging.jpg\" alt=\"Configuration is applied\" class=\"wp-image-4693\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>7. Select your target device and click the <em>Continue<\/em> button<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>8. Click the <em>Start <\/em>button to launch your imaging session<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Please note that RAID imaging may take longer than ordinary drive-to-drive imaging due to the typically large size of an array.
