Atola Insight Forensic supports imaging into a file on an encrypted target drive, using VeraCrypt for data encryption. After your source drive is identified by the system, take the following steps:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
\r\n
Go to the Imaging<\/strong> <\/em>category in the left-side menu on the home screen;\u00a0<\/li>\r\n
Click the Create New Session<\/em> link to launch an imaging session;<\/li>\r\n
Tick your target device;\u00a0<\/li>\r\n
Click the link Create Image File on Target<\/em>.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nAtola Insight Forensic: Creating Image File on Target<\/figcaption>\r\n<\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
5. In the pop-up window, <\/em>select Create an encrypted VeraCrypt container (exFAT)<\/em> option and click the Next<\/em> button.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nAtola Insight Forensic: Creating exFAT<\/figcaption>\r\n<\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
6. To complete the creation of a VeraCrypt volume, enter the password.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nAtola Insight Forensic: Creating VeraCrypt Volume<\/figcaption>\r\n<\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
7. Enter YES and click Format <\/em>to confirm formatting the drive to create the encrypted partition.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nAtola Insight Forensic: Creating exFAT partition<\/figcaption>\r\n<\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

8. Name new image file, click the Add <\/em>button and then click Select<\/em>.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nAtola Insight Forensic: Selecting File<\/figcaption>\r\n<\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
9. Specify the settings for this imaging session and click the Start Imaging<\/em> button.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nAtola Insight Forensic: Starting New Imaging Session<\/figcaption>\r\n<\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
After you click the Start Imaging<\/em> button, Insight will start imaging data into the file on your encrypted target.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nAtola Insight Forensic: Imaging process<\/figcaption>\r\n<\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Data Extraction:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

To find the VeraCrypt volume and the imaged file, plug the target drive into your computer;<\/li>\r\n
Use VeraCrypt software to safely access encrypted data from your drive;<\/li>\r\n
Select the drive label (A, B, C, etc.) on which you want the volume to be mounted;<\/li>\r\n
Click Select device<\/em> button;<\/li>\r\n
In the pop-up window select your encrypted volume;<\/li>\r\n
Click the Mount <\/em>button.\u00a0<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
