Firmware recovery

Atola Insight has two modes of firmware recovery: manual and automatic. In manual mode, the data recovery engineer can access all firmware files, ROM, NVRAM — full read/write access is provided.

Manual firmware recovery: downloading firmware

This is an old-fashion way of accessing firmware files (modules): you can perform the recovery yourself. However, Atola Insight can automatically repair most kinds of firmware damage.

In automatic mode, the program first creates full firmware backup, diagnoses the problem, and then takes all necessary steps to recover the drive. Automatic mode saves tremendous amount of time since most firmware issues can be recovered without operator's supervision.

Firmware Database

Firmware Database is there when you need to recover a hard drive with badly damaged firmware: in most cases you can make use of firmware files created from a similar hard drive.

Firmware repositories

In case you do not have the needed firmware files, two online repositories are available; Reference repository is maintained by Atola Technology, whereas User repository is maintained by the users of Atola Insight. Online repository search is available. Needed firmware files can be downloaded automatically.

Other firmware formats

Use what you already have. Other firmware formats are supported by Atola Insight. You can use your existing PC3000 firmware database with Atola Insight. SalvationData and HRT are also supported.
